Two years in the making, it’s finally time to reveal the most exiting news:
Antarctic Traces Revisited
opening: Friday, September 2nd, 6 p.m.
The Cinémathèque québécoise is pleased to invite you to the opening of Michaela Grill’s installation Antarctic Traces Revisited, in the presence of the artist.
Presented from September 2 to October 30, the exhibition explores the desolate territory of South Georgia, a British island lost in the Atlantic Ocean, off the silent, nearby continent of Antarctica. Austrian multidisciplinary artist Michaela Grill introduces an open dialogue between creation and investigation where the vivid depiction of these landscapes clashes with the archived images, maps, films and photographs that bear witness to how animals and nature have been exploited on the territory.
The opening will be followed at 7 p.m. by a performance by Steve Bates/ Elizabeth A. Vajagic and Nick Kuepfer.
Deep gratitude to Guillaume Lafeur and Doriane Briot for making this dream come true!
